Abstract
प्राचीन भारतीय इतिहास का लेखन और उसका प्रामाणिक पुनर्निर्माण पुरातात्विक साक्ष्यों पर अत्यधिक निर्भर
है, जिनमें अभिलेखों का स्थान सर्वाेपरि है। साहित्यिक स्रोतों में समय के साथ होने वाले प्रक्षेपों और
कल्पनाशीलता की तुलना में अभिलेख समकालीन और अपरिवर्तनीय साक्ष्य प्रस्तुत करते हैं। प्रस्तुत शोध-पत्र
प्राचीन भारत के राजनीतिक, सामाजिक, धार्मिक और आर्थिक जीवन को समझने में अभिलेखों के योगदान का
विश्लेषण करता है। मौर्यकालीन अशोक के धम्म-लेखों से लेकर गुप्तकालीन प्रशस्तियों और दक्षिण भारतीय
ताम्रपत्रों तक, ये अभिलेख न केवल वंशावली और तिथिक्रम को स्पष्ट करते हैं, बल्कि तत्कालीन प्रशासनिक
संरचना और भाषाई विकास पर भी प्रकाश डालते हैं। यह लेख इस तथ्य को रेखांकित करता है कि अभिलेखों
के बिना प्राचीन भारत का एक बड़ा कालखंड आज भी विस्मृति के गर्भ में होता।
